Austin School Holds Successful First Open Day

New school attracts hundreds of visitors including VIPs and celebrities to discover fun and interactive lessons and demonstrations

 Austin School, a new international school offering a quality education to students from years 1-11, has held a successful Open Day event which saw hundreds of visitors including VIPs and celebrities enjoy a wide range of fun activities and hands-on demonstrations.

The spacious school, located in the heart of dynamic Tsim Sha Tsui, showcased its outstanding teaching and facilities to an enthusiastic audience, which included Hong Kong television host, actor and singer Natalis Chan and Anson Chan, the son of philanthropist Dr. Chan Shu Kui, founder of Chan’s Educational Organisation in Hong Kong.

Also attending the Open Day were Hong Kong Olympic silver medallist table tennis legend Li Hui Fen, Legislative Council members Tse Wai-chun and Bai Yunqin, and Austin School Chancellor Dr. Peggy Chen and her husband.

Austin School Principal, Steven Wilson, commented: “We are thrilled to have had such a superb attendance and seen so many happy faces for our first of many Open Days. Austin School welcomes families from Hong Kong and around the world, who support our shared values and have great ambitions for their children. This event has offered a wonderful opportunity to showcase the school to families and the wider community, and demonstrate our diverse, caring and educationally excellent institute.”

Attendees were able to join in a variety of activities including science experiments, virtual reality demonstrations, Austin School's Reading First programme, a French mini-class and even compose music in the school’s well-equipped music room.

Families were able to discuss Austin School's inquiry-based learning education, which follows the Hong Kong, English and Cambridge international curriculums. Austin School is registered as a Cambridge International School, Cambridge Advanced Secondary International School, and Assessment Centre.

Students at Austin School receive a high level of attention from their teachers due to small class settings. This allows teachers and students to go beyond the borders of the curriculum to expand their knowledge and fully explore inquiry-based learning.

Austin School’s Open Day concluded with photo-taking sessions amid much goodwill and mutual appreciation from visitors and school staff.
